Study impaired? Here you will find important hints and tips...

Welcome to our inclusion-sensitive university!

The Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences promotes a culture of togetherness characterized by mutual respect, open communication and appreciation. We see ourselves as an inclusive university where diversity and heterogeneity are valued and perceived as strengths. The development of inclusive structures is a permanent process for us, and we are working on it throughout the university in all areas of activity. This is evidenced, among other things, by the fact that all university members are invited to participate in the creation of an action plan "Barrier-free University for Business and Society Ludwigshafen" in 2018.

Students with impairments are not that rare... Are you one of them?

Health impairments that make studying difficult are not as rare as one might think. The number is generally underestimated, perhaps also because not every impairment is noticeable at first glance. Overall, about eleven percent of students suffer from health impairments that make studying more difficult. And the trend is rising! (Source: 21st Social Survey of the German Student Union).

Impairments include, for example, chronic physical illnesses, movement impairments, mental illnesses, and visual, hearing or speech impairments. Anyone who has a health impairment and fears that they will have difficulties in their studies as a result can find relevant information on our platform www.hwg-lu.de/barrierefrei.

You have rights... Compensation for disadvantages

Equal participation in higher education for people with disabilities is enshrined in various laws and regulations, including the German Basic Law, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Higher Education Framework Act and the State Higher Education Act. Corresponding regulations can also be found in the General Examination Regulations of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society under §25 "Protective provisions". Equal participation means that everyone has the right to study with equal opportunities without being discriminated against. Compensation for disadvantages is an instrument to compensate for barriers and disadvantages. There are compensations for disadvantages in BAföG, in the admission procedure, for the course of studies and in examinations. It's best to find out more on our platform at an early stage and get advice.

Barrier-free through the University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen

The Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society has published a brochure specifically for people with reduced mobility, which provides an overview of the accessibility of the various buildings. In principle, all buildings are accessible for people with reduced mobility. However, this does not apply to all rooms in the buildings.
